Titanium grade 1

Titanium is a strong yet lightweight metal. Titanium comes in different grades, of which grades 1 – 4 are commercially pure. Grade 1 titanium is the softest and most ductile titanium grade. It also has excellent weldability and joinability properties. At microstructural level, all four titanium grades are in the alpha-phase. That means that the difference between the grades can be found in the number of interstitial elements like oxygen and iron that are added to each grade. Grade 1 titanium contains the least amount of interstitial elements and, therefore, has the lowest ultimate tensile strength (UTS).
